Marketing Guru - Dr Philip Kotler

Public Lecture by Dr Philip Kotler on " The Future of Marketing"

Mini BIO of Dr Kotler
Philip Kotler is the S.C. Johnson & Son Professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Professor Kotler is the author of several books, including Marketing Management: Analysis, Planning, Implementation and Control, the most widely used marketing book in graduate business schools worldwide.

He has published over one hundred articles in leading journals, several of which have received best-article awards. Professor Kotler has consulted for such companies as IBM, General Electric, AT&T, Honeywell, Bank of America, Merck, and others in the areas of marketing strategy and planning, marketing organization and international marketing.

He has been chairman of the College of Marketing of the Institute of Management Sciences, a director of the American Marketing Association, a Trustee of the Marketing Science Institute, a Director of the MAC Group, a former member of the Yankelovich Advisory Board, and a member of the Copernicus Advisory Board. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a member of the Advisory Board of the Drucker Foundation.

I had a chance to attend a public lecture and meet Dr Philip Kotler who is a distinguished Professor of International Marketing. This public lecture had been held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, KL on 29th May 2009. Within the 2 hours lecture, he managed to share and talk about 38 marketing concepts since The postwar 1950s, The Soaring 1960s, The Turbulent 1970s, The Uncertain 1980s, The One-to-One 1990s, and The Financially-Driven 2000s. During the Q&A session, there are several people who had line up to ask questions. Unluckily, only five had been chosen to ask the questions due to time constraint.

Participants were so excited to meet and take photograph with the Professor. However, he left early and we were not able to squeeze in and take photo with him. To please ourselves, we took photo on the stage after everyone left. Hmm.. really hope that I can meet him again in future... I feel excited and wish to pursue my PhD at GSM, UPM since Dr Kotler is one of the international advisor for GSM (Graduate School of Management, UPM).

  1. I have read the Book "Principles of Marketing" - Ninth Edition by Sir Dr Kotler. The Book is a Great Inspiration for Sales and Marketing Executives, Sales and Marketing Managers, and also who would like to make a career in Sales and Marketing Field.

    In Few Words, I can describe Dr Kotler as "A Living Legend - Sales and Marketing Management Guru".
